2019, Photoforum Pasquart, Biel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carte blanche to Myriam Ziehli on the occasion of the 2019 edition of the Biel\/Bienne Festival of Photography, entitled Flood<\/em>, which takes as a starting point the recurring historical motifs of the deluge and the catastrophe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This starts from a very simple intuition; that the conservation in the zoological structure is reminiscent of two biblical parables: that of Noah\u2019s Ark and before it, of Genesis. Indeed, the zoo represents a closed conservation structure, and thus constitutes a form of ark. The emergency of the apocalyptic situation in the parable evokes contemporary ecological problems, in particular the worrying loss of biodiversity characterised by the sixth mass extinction. Noah\u2019s patriarchal and hierarchical authority on the animals he chose and \u2018saved\u2019 recalls the Western insolence, on the one hand, in defining a prioritisation in conservation actions and, on the other hand, in the way animals are defined as representing their species within the zoological park.” (Myriam Ziehli)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Cela part d\u2019une intuition tr\u00e8s simple; la conservation dans la structure zoologique n\u2019est pas sans rappeler deux paraboles bibliques: celle de l\u2019Arche de No\u00e9 et avant elle, la Gen\u00e8se. En effet, le parc zoologique repr\u00e9sente une structure ferm\u00e9e de conservation, constituant ainsi une forme d\u2019arche. L\u2019urgence de la situation apocalyptique dans la parabole \u00e9voque les probl\u00e8mes \u00e9cologiques contemporains avec notamment l\u2019inqui\u00e9tante perte de biodiversit\u00e9 caract\u00e9ris\u00e9e par la sixi\u00e8me extinction de masse. L\u2019autorit\u00e9 patriarcale et hi\u00e9rarchique de No\u00e9 sur les animaux qu\u2019il choisit et \u201aqu\u2019il sauve\u2019 rappelle l\u2019insolence occidentale, d\u2019une part, d\u00e9finissant une priorisation des actions de conservation et d\u2019autre part, la mani\u00e8re de d\u00e9finir les animaux comme repr\u00e9sentant de leur esp\u00e8ce au sein du parc zoologique.” (Myriam Ziehli)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
