2022 | Photoforum Pasquart
Project initiated with Olivier Rossel and Rudolf Steiner
Together with Olivier Rossel and Rudolf Steiner (president and vice-president of the Photoforum), Danaé Panchaud initiated in 2021 a research residency format for Photoforum Pasquart, where an artist is invited to further their research in the exhibition spaces of Photoforum. The audience is invited to witness the ongoing process and has regular opportunities to discuss with the artist, through a series of talks, tours, presentations and workshop. After a month, the results of the research is installed in the space and featured for another month, in whichever state it is at the end of the residency.
This new format aimed to demystify artist work for a broad audience, give a sense of what research in art can mean and give more opportunities to exchange with an artist. It also aimed to give a space (and a decent fee) to an artist during a research phase, with no pressure for a final result or project.
The first artist invited to the research residency in 2021 was Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah. After a delay due to the pandemic, and following Danaé Panchaud’s departure from the institution, the first research residency at Photoforum Pasquart was carried out in an adapted format by her successor in January 2022.
En collaboration avec Olivier Rossel et Rudolf Steiner (président et vice-président du Photoforum), Danaé Panchaud a initié en 2021 un format de résidence de recherche pour le Photoforum Pasquart, où un artiste est invité à poursuivre ses recherches en cours dans les espaces d’exposition du Photoforum. Le public est alors invité à être témoin du processus en cours et a régulièrement l’occasion d’échanger avec l’artiste, à travers une série de conférences, de visites, de présentations et d’ateliers. Après un mois, les résultats de la recherche sont installés dans les espaces d’exposition et présentés pendant un mois supplémentaire, dans l’état où ils se trouvent à la fin de la résidence.
Ce nouveau format vise à démystifier le travail de l’artiste pour un large public, à donner une idée de ce que la recherche en art peut signifier et à multiplier les occasions d’échanger avec un artiste. Il s’agit également de donner un espace (et une rémunération décente) à un artiste pendant une phase de recherche, sans pression pour un résultat ou un projet final.
La première artiste invitée pour une résidence de recherche en 2021 était Akosua Viktoria Adu-Sanyah. Après un retard dû à la pandémie, et suite au départ de l’institution de Danaé Panchaud, la première résidence de recherche au Photoforum Pasquart a eu lieu en janvier 2022, dans un format adapté par sa successeur.
